Multi-Party Computation frameworks ABY and MOTION by the ENCRYPTO group
The United Nation's Committee of Experts on Big Data and Data Science for Official Statistics has released its “Guide on Privacy-Enhancing Technologies (PETs) for Official Statistics”. The guide includes two tools from the ENCRYPTO research group of professor Thomas Schneider at TU Darmstadt.

acatech IMPULS Cybersecurity with input from CROSSING PIs

Status quo, challenges and options for action outlined
A new impulse paper that includes the expertise of principal investigators from the Collaborative Research Center CROSSING describes the current state of cybersecurity in Germany and identifies challenges as well as areas for action. The publication in the “acatech IMPULS” series of the German Academy of Science and Engineering acatech is aimed at policymakers, academia, industry, and the interested public.

CROSSING-PI im neuen Präsidium der TU Darmstadt
Zum 1. Januar 2023 nimmt ein neu besetztes Präsidium an der TU Darmstadt seine Arbeit auf: Drei Mitglieder wurden neu gewählt und eines im Amt bestätigt. Die Universitätsversammlung folgte damit den Vorschlägen von TU-Präsidentin Professorin Tanja Brühl.

Successful Workshop on Sustainable Hardware Security (SUSHI)

On November 4th, CROSSING PI professor Ahmad-Reza Sadeghi co-organized the Workshop on Sustainable Hardware Security (SUSHI) co-located with ICCAD'22 in San Diego, USA. Main goal of the workshop was to explore new ideas and research directions for tackling the challenges related to security-by-design for hardware, scalable assurance methodologies for hardware security and resilience, and security-aware electronic design automation that pave the way for establishing sustainable security for computing platforms. The invite-only workshop was supported by CROSSING.

CROSSING-PI Prof. Ahmad-Reza Sadeghi as expert advisor on distributed machine learning
Machine learning systems are increasingly being integrated in many processes of our society and economy. For example, machine learning algorithms take on important functions in driverless vehicles or digital healthcare. In these areas of application, AI systems must not only make reliable predictions, but also resist attacks and manipulation to ensure privacy of sometimes sensitive data as well as maintain trust in the technology.

9th German IT Security Award: Two CROSSING-PIs in finals

Award Ceremony on November 10, 2022
CROSSING-PIs professor Eric Bodden (University of Paderborn), and professor Lucas Davi (University Duisburg-Essen), along with their teams each were selected among the top ten finalists for the 9th German IT Security Award. The Horst Görtz Foundation presents the award during the Innovation Conference Cybersecurity 2022 at Ruhr-Uni Bochum.
