E7 – Transparency as User-Centered Intervention for Privacy and Security

Human end-user behavior is considered central to cybersecurity and privacy. Neglecting the diverse needs of end users, e.g., in data access management, may ultimately limit the functionality of security mechanisms and therefore reduce security. Project E7 focuses on making security- or privacy-related mechanisms more traceable to enhance understanding on the part of both end users and developers. The goal is to inform and educate the users to encourage better decisions for their personal security and privacy.
