Cybersecurity is a key research focus at both Ruhr University Bochum (RUB) and Technical University of Darmstadt (TU Darmstadt). Building on a successful and long-standing collaboration in the fields of cybersecurity and privacy, the two universities are now set to further deepen their partnership. In a joint declaration of intent, they have agreed to strengthen their research cooperation and launch new initiatives in both academic research and knowledge transfer.

For over two decades, RUB and TU Darmstadt have worked closely together in IT security and privacy protection. This new memorandum consolidates their existing ties and lays the groundwork for future joint research projects. Planned activities include research visits and exchange opportunities for doctoral researchers, scientific workshops, and conferences. The two universities are also considering the development of jointly hosted summer schools and exploring additional synergies related to cybersecurity startups.

From Ruhr University Bochum, the Cluster of Excellence CASA is actively involved in the partnership. The cluster focuses on strengthening the resilience of our digital society. CASA is based at the Horst Görtz Institute for IT Security within the Faculty of Computer Science.

At TU Darmstadt (TUDa), the profile topic Cybersecurity and Privacy is leading the way. The profile topic is part of the Research Field Information and Intelligence (I+I) , and brings together interdisciplinary cybersecurity research at TUDa, from basic research to application-oriented solutions.
