Abstract
As part of the annual lecture “Public Key Infrastructures (PKI)” during the summer term, Dr. Franziskus Kiefer (Mozilla) will give a guest talk on how the theoretical concepts of PKI are realized in practice. The talk will give insights on trust management, handling of security incidents as well as all sorts of practical problems, work arounds and fixes related to certificate validation and revocation handling.

Short bio
I’m a security & cryptography engineer and researcher based in Berlin. Currently I’m working on Mozilla’s cryptography library NSS as well as researching formally verifiable specifications and implementations of cryptographic primitives. My areas of interest range from privacy preserving data collection and computation to authentication and key exchange.

Before joining Mozilla in Berlin I finished my PhD at the University of Surrey supervised by Mark Manulis and Shujun Li on the topic of password based cryptography.
