Abstract

For banking applications, be it mobile or online applications, identification and authentication are among the most security critical processes. Useability and user convenience must be satisfied as well as the need for security. The presentation will cover risk driven control mechanisms as well as regulatory requirements for identification and authentication solutions for banking applications. In addition, the presentation will include comments on practical use of cryptographic solutions in online and mobile banking applications.

Short Bio

Michael Schneider is employed as lead technical expert in the Chief Information Security Office (CISO) of Deutsche Bank. As part of the Customer Security team in CISO, he is responsible for identification and authentication solutions for customer applications throughout all business areas of the bank. In addition, he serves as cyber security subject matter expert for biometrics and for the digitalization strategy of the bank. From 2009 to 2013, Michael Schneider was a researcher in the Cryptography and Computeralgebra research group at TU Darmstadt and CASED. His research focused on cryptanalysis of lattice-based cryptosystems. As research area lead he supported the management of CASED from 2012 to 2013.
